Session Abstract |
1) Introduction to the Microsoft
Azure Services Platform
Cloud computing is a new buzzword today and this seems
a little fuzzy, over used, misinterpreted as well. The entire
software industry is trying to create a niche in the cloud space.
There seems to be many labels like private cloud, public cloud
, data center as cloud, infrastructure as cloud etc…This session
will demystify what is cloud computing in today’s scenario,
where are we presently and where are we headed to. The bulk
of the session will be to introduce “Microsoft’s Azure Services
Platform”, which is the cloud computing stack offering by Microsoft.
This will include the Microsoft’s Operating system (Azure),
Services platform (.NET services, SQL services, Live Service)
and the end user applications.

2) Overview of Windows Azure
Providing operating system as a service is the crux
of Microsoft’s Windows Azure which forms the kernel of the cloud
computing stack. This session will delve deep into various components
and features of this cloud based operating system. Key principles
of an OS include computation, storage, service management (scheduling,
load balancing, resource allocation etc.) & developer ease of
use. We will see how each of these has been implemented and
also what are the latest and new feature additions in Windows
Azure. The session concludes with end user portal setup and
future roadmap.

3) Using Data Mining for Analyzing
Data,Predictions and Forecasting
Data mining is the process of searching through data
to extract patterns and trends by using various algorithms.
Data mining is a component of Analysis Services that predicts
unknown data values and categorizes entities from relational
or online analytical processing (OLAP) data. In this demo packed
session, we will look at three practical case studies to understand
the fundamental concepts of Data Mining.
1. We will analyze a set of prospective customers and predict
which of these customers are most likely to purchase a particular
product.
2. We will analyze sales data over the last couple of years
to predict future sales and profits.
3. We will analyze data of orders placed to see which products
are being purchased together by customers. This will help us
in modifying our website and prompt our customers to look at
other similar products based on the ones they have added to
the cart.

4) Using ADO.NET Data Services
The ADO.NET Data Services framework consists of a combination
of patterns and libraries that enable the creation and consumption
of data services for the web. The goal of the ADO.Net Data Services
framework is to facilitate the creation of flexible data services
that are naturally integrated with the web. In this session,
we will learn how to expose our certain entities from our database
as a WCF service. Client applications can use this service to
execute any ad-hoc query against our entities relieving us the
need to create various permutations and combinations of Service
Operations.

5) Rapid application development using
Windows Mobile Line of Business Solution Accelerator 2008
Windows Mobile LOB Solution Accelerator 2008 is a sample
provided to get acquainted with Windows Mobile development.
This is not an API, SDK or Framework, but a sample, which developers
can use to understand software development for Windows Mobile.
Moreover, this sample can be ‘reused’ to build new applications
without re-inventing the wheel. This sample LOB application
showcases the latest design possibilities and technologies in
the world of mobile development. It features a set of tools,
tips and tricks and best practices aimed at empowering developers
to utilize the Windows Mobile platform to its fullest. It includes
techniques for Adaptive application development, Sync Services
for ADO.NET, WCF Store & Forward functionality, Microsoft MapPoint,
LINQ and custom control development for Windows Mobile.

6) Living on Live Services –
Introduction to Microsoft Live Framework
The Live Framework is the uniform way for programming
Live Services from any platform, programming language, application
or device. In current Community Technology Preview (CTP) release,
developers with access to the Live Framework sandbox can access
a user’s Contacts, Profile, and Mesh resources via the RESTful
APIs or through one of the Live Framework Toolkits. This session
is all about ‘Getting Started’ with Live Framework and accessing
Live Services through it.

7) JQuery - jQuery is a lightweight JavaScript library that emphasizes
interaction between JavaScript and HTML. Microsoft have announced
plans to bundle jQuery on their platforms, Microsoft adopting
it initially within Visual Studio for use within Microsoft's
ASP.NET AJAX framework and ASP.NET MVC Framework. We will be
looking at how we can use JQuery along with ASP.NET |
